AMP's chief financial officer Paul Batchelor has been appointed as chief executive officer designate of AMP Ltd.
He would assume his role as CEO after an "appropriate transition process of up to three months", AMP says.
AMP's baord made the appointment because current chief executive officer George Trumbull had indicated some time ago that he wished to return to the United States earlier than planned.
