AIA New Zealand has outlined its work supporting advisers in its recently released environmental, social, and governance (ESG) report.

Sharron Botica, AIA NZ's chief partnership distribution officer, says the AIA MyCare programme, the Executive Wellness Programme, AIA Vitality Day, and upcoming Peak Performance Summit are some of its initiatives to bolster the mental wellbeing of advisers. The company also collaborates with Groov to provide mental health services.

She says AIA's advisers have responded positively to the efforts, reinforcing the company's strategic decision to sponsor the Adviser Wellbeing Research for a second time.

Botica acknowledges the profound challenges that market conditions and regulatory changes continue to pose for financial advisers. With factors such as recent extreme weather events and escalating cost of living adding to the stress, advisers are finding themselves extending support to an increasing number of distressed customers.

AIA's renewed commitment to the health and wellbeing of its advisers is not only about managing these immediate challenges, she says. “The goal is to ensure they are positioned to better understand, innovate and highlight opportunities that will drive the future of the adviser market in New Zealand.”

AIA's ESG report further emphasised improving access to quality healthcare for clients and advisers. The report reveals that for the year ending December 31, 2022, AIA NZ processed a record number of claims, underscoring the company's commitment to delivering on its promises.

The focus on "Healthier, Longer, Better Lives" extends to AIA's People and Culture: Employee Value Proposition, unveiled in 2022.

With its advisers playing a critical role in navigating the uncertainties of the market, AIA NZ believes that investing in their mental health and wellbeing will not only result in a healthier, happier workforce, but also in superior service to customers.
